Producing eggs has been ongoing for many years.
Raising hens for egg production was an after thought. We have evolved through many lessons learned, especially how to keep predators (such as badgers) out of the hen area. Also, how to make sure we are not the largest wild bird feeder in the county. We have been moving towards a more “open range” feeding environment, yet maintaining control so they don’t take over the ranch.
Some eggs get sold, some are given away and best of all the ranch fridge is always well stocked for the next egg omelette. The demand market seems to be out of Reno. With our many trips to/from, we manage to keep them moving west.
This project is the domain of the wife. She cares for each hen with the utmost care.
